From Edinburgh ...
Take the M9 northbound until its end (junction 11). At the junction 11 roundabout take the first exit, the B824 signposted Doune. Follow this road until you come to a T-junction where you turn left onto the A820 to Doune. Drive through Doune then pick up the A84 through Callander to Lochearnhead. In Lochearnhead pick up the A85 signposted to Crianlarich. Stay on the A85 until you reach Crianlarich where you pick up the A82 to Tyndrum, then the A85 to Dalmally. About 2 miles after Dalmally take a sharp left onto the A819 to Inveraray.

In Inveraray take the A83 towards Campbeltown. Drive through Lochgilphead and continue on the A83 in the direction of Campbeltown. About 2 miles after Ardrishaig, turn sharp right onto the B8024 to Kilberry. Follow this road for 14 miles. After about 13 miles you’ll see Crear’s red roof in the distance on your left. You’ll pass a ruin on your right and Cretshengan Farm on your left. Crear will then disappear from view. A few hundred yards after Cretshengan Farm turn left onto the track leading to Crear. The track is immediately after a series of reflective bollards on the right and opposite some double field gates.

Alternative route via A811

From Stirling take the A811 through Kippen, Dryman and Balloch. Just after Balloch pick up the A82 to Tarbet, then the A83 to Inveraray. Then follow instructions in the paragraph above.

From Glasgow ...
Take the A82 out of Glasgow to Loch Lomond and Tarbet. (If you’re coming from the airport take the M8 towards the Erskine Bridge. Cross the bridge and pick up to A82 to Loch Lomond and Tarbet.) In Tarbet turn left onto the A83 to Arrochar and Inveraray.

In Inveraray take the A83 towards Campbeltown. Drive through Lochgilphead and continue on the A83 in the direction of Campbeltown. Please note that the nearest petrol station to Crear is in Lochgilphead, on the righthand side as you approach the town from Inveraray. Please be aware of deer on the road at both dusk and dawn.
