Crear and Caisealrag Cottage are fully licensed for weddings and civil partnerships, including the grounds all the way down to the sandy beach. Larger than a tennis court, the Crear studio with panoramic views to the Paps of Jura, is a stunning location to conduct your ceremony where you can invite upto 70 guests. (We are unable to host both your ceremony and reception if the number of guests exceed this number.) The nearest churches to Crear are South Knapdale Parish Church in Achahoish, and Kilberry Parish Church. If you are looking to have the ultimate in an intimate wedding or civil partnership with just the two of you, Caisealrag Cottage at Crear is ideal.

Please note if you are planning a last minute commitment, the registrars require three weeks notice. For non UK passport holders, please allow three months for the relevant paperwork and visas to be in place.

What ever kind of ceremony you chose to have, the first person to contact regarding all the legal paper work is the local registrar, Shona Brechin. If you have any queries or questions regarding visas etc. she is more than happy to help.

Humanist
Scotland is one of only six countries in the world where Humanist marriage ceremonies are legal (the others are Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Norway and certain states of the USA). Humanist weddings have the same legal status as civil and religious weddings as long as they are conducted by an HSS Celebrant, who has been authorised by the Registrar General of Scotland. Same sex couples often choose to celebrate their commitment by having a Humanist ceremony, though these are not yet legally recognised.

‘I absolutely LOVE conducting weddings! I feel very lucky to be a part of such a special day. I do my very best to help the couple to have the ceremony they really want, making it as unique and personal to them as possible. We will meet up, if practical, and spend as much time as is necessary to sort out the details, to make this meaningful and special for them. I will guide and help with the choices of music, readings, vows, etc. as is required.’ Annie Loughlin
