You are invited to a celebration at Crear and we very much look forward to welcoming you.
We hope the following may answer some of your questions and queries, however please don't hesitate to contact us should you require a little further advice.
• Getting here is simple. There are more flights from London to Glasgow than any other route in the world and many of the budget airlines cover both the UK and Europe to fly direct. The earlier you book, the cheaper it will be
• From Glasgow International Airport, Glasgow Prestwick Airport, and Glasgow Central Station, you have the option of hiring a car, taking the bus to Lochgilphead or Ardrishaig, or booking Crear Transfers
• Most wedding parties provide a bus service to collect and return you to your hotel and B&B on the day
• Please remember to book your accommodation as soon as you know that you are coming, along with any hair and makeup appointments.
• We hope that you can spare the time to explore this beautiful part of Argyll. If you get this far, you are within striking distance of many of the islands, where you can fly directly back to Glasgow, and it's the perfect excuse to take a mini break or a longer holiday away - to simply relax or to enjoy trail riding, sailing, cycling, fishing, shooting, camping (you can walk and wild camp anywhere in Scotland), play golf on some of the greatest courses in the world, taste whisky, visit castles, gardens, and museums, enjoy the abundance of wildlife and beaches that stretch for miles where you may be the only living soul. If you enjoy seafood, check out the Seafood Trail!
• What to bring, aside from your wedding finery? Gumboots are pretty much essential emergency footwear if the ceremony is on the beach, along with walking boots for the more serious hiker if you are staying a while. An umbrella could be useful, and a waterproof coat
• Crear being up on a hill with no water or trees close by, enjoys a relatively midge free existance. The best lotion and potion to tackle the pest is Skin So Soft, by Avon (which was intended as a smelly body lotion but, by chance, has been found to have the magical effect of repelling the midge; also, it is far less toxic than jungle juice and the like)
• Lochgilphead has the nearest hospital and, in an any extreme emergency, the air ambulance is sent and the unlucky person is whisked straight to Glasgow. Should anyone be taken ill during a celebration, we are happy to find a bed to tuck them up for the evening, or to drive them back to their hotel and B&B.
• We have a fully qualified and insured baby sitting service who can come to Crear, Barnlongart House and the Royal Hotel.
